    • AER LINGUS JOINS CELEBRATION OF OFFICIAL OPENING OF T2 LONDON HEATHROW

      Tuesday 24 Jun 2014

Aer Lingus has joined in the celebration of the official opening of T2 at London Heathrow by Her Majesty the Queen and HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

Aer Lingus will move its operations to Terminal 2, to be known as ‘The Queen’s Terminal’, from Wednesday 9th July 2014. All Aer Lingus flights to and from London Heathrow will operate from Terminal 2 from that date.

One of the main benefits for customers will be a 50% reduction in gate to kerb time. Transferring to other flights will be seamless and same terminal connections will be possible with a number of Aer Lingus partner airlines. Arriving into T2 will be quick and easy with direct access to all of the transport links, including Heathrow Express meaning Paddington Station can be reached in only 15 minutes.

Aer Lingus business class and Gold Circle customers will have use of Gold Circle check-in and fast track security facilities. The Gold Circle Lounge, which will accommodate 130 customers, will be 50% larger than the current lounge at Heathrow and has been designed to the highest levels of comfort and style. A special feature of the new lounge is the 5 metre high external glass wall offering relaxing views to the airfield. The lounge offers some new and enhanced features including shower facilities, meeting rooms and a quiet area, making for a calm environment in which to work or just relax.

Speaking on the occasion Aer Lingus Chief Executive Christoph Mueller said, “This is a big move for Aer Lingus as Heathrow is our number one destination airport but it’s also very significant for Heathrow Airport as we are its third largest airline operator. The move will be great news for our Heathrow customers who will enjoy increased transfer opportunities, quicker transfer times, shorter walking distances, and improved retail and restaurant opportunities. It will radically improve their Aer Lingus experience at Heathrow. We’re really looking forward to welcoming our customers to the brand new, state of the art Terminal 2.”
